EASTER WEEKEND IN MOOREA

Here is another memorable and relaxing trip!.

Matahere, Hinanui and myself celebrated Easter with friends.

We ate Tahitian food, sunbathed, walked on the beach, swam etc...etc LOL and we had a lot of FUN!

HINANUI

MATAHERE

Meet the dogs I adopted in Moorea.
HIONA (snow).

BELLE with HIONA.

And MAITO (a variety of fish).

On Saturday we had ribs at the menu.

On Easter Sunday, Our friend MATATINI prepared our fish cooked the Poumotu way.
Here is how this is done.
You create a circle of huge rocks then add in the center a few logs and coconut husks.
Start the fire and when it is bursting huge flames…cover it with smaller size corals that you find there laying on the beach.

Then place your fish to cook. Yummy!!! It gives this beautiful and unique scent that you can only obtain with this technique.

This fish is called O’IRI.

This other one is called UME.

These fish came directly from the Island of HUAHINE.

Here are other specialties of the Islands.
POE MAI’A (made with Bananas from Huahine).

POE MAI’A (made with regular bananas from Moorea). When cooked the color of this dish turns out different from the one above.

POE MANIOTA.

FISH.

FAFA (similar to spinach).

PU'A CHOUX (porc and cabbage).

PU'A (porc).

Marinated fish and shrimp.

Taro, banana etc…

This wonderful meal took many to prepare it and by the time we gathered around the table it was already mid afternoon. No trouble, we brought along with us our appetite…LOL

On the very next day we went to visit to the PAPA(S) (coral reef).
Check them out. They are amazing!!!

With the magic of this place I was greatly disappointed to also find there empty cans, plastic bottles and a microwave.
What a pity! I felt great pain witnessing this.

It would have been nicer to find a beautiful VAHINE (Tahitian Woman) or a handsome TANE (Tahitian Man) laying there on the beach instead of all this junk! OMG did I really say that? Ha ha ha(Let me roll my eyes!).
How unfortunate though! Well we are not always that lucky. Ha ha ha !!!

One night we decided to stay out at the beach. It was a hilarious night! We laughed a lot…
It was full moon. We laid comfortably under the stars on our long chairs with pillows and blankets… the sound of the ocean breaking on the reef rocked us to sleep.

To end up my story…let me sooth your soul with the following slide show. Join me in contemplation of a sunrise and a moon in a very same morning. It is Magnificent!

HAU (PEACE),
TARARAINA
